Chateau Laroche was built as an expression and reminder of the simple strength and rugged grandeur of the mighty men who lived when Knighthood was in flower. It was their knightly zeal for HONOR, VALOR and MANLY PURITY that lifted mankind out of the moral midnight of the dark ages, and started it towards a gray dawn of human hope.

Present human decadence proves a need for similar action. Already the ancient organization of Knights has been re-activated to save society. Any man of high ideals who wishes to help save civilization is invited to become a member of the Knights of the Golden Trail, whose ONLY vows are the Ten Commandments. Chateau Laroche is the world headquarters of this organization, started in 1927.

As you roam the castle, try to imagine it peopled with spirits of those courageous men of might whose nobility, courage and virtue saved (and will save again) mankind from total degradation and degeneration.

Harry Andrews would say: Nothing that GOD ever made on earth is more awe inspiring and heart warming than the sight of a young noble youth just budding into manhood, clean minded, honest, honorable, gentle, living in GODs image, and humbly conscious of His approval. Save GODs own direct Son such a young man in the highest achievement to be counted his frd, is probably the GREATEST of life's rewards. It makes one want to bow in reverent of the Creator's handiwork. To know such a youth, and worship and Thank GOD for the privilege of being counted in the same category of His creatures. Thank GOD there are such young men. They also are saviors of Mankind"

In early April, 1981, at the age of 91, Harry was either cooking or burning garbage on the roof of his Castle. He had a pistol in his back pocket--he was a frightened man. The wind shifted, his polyester pants caught fire, and Harry was so preoccupied with getting the gun out of his pants that the fire burned up his legs. He died 16 days later of Gangrene.

The History of Chateau Laroche has gotten hazy, given that its builder, Harry Andrews, has been dead for a quarter of a century. Three facts, however, seem pretty clear:
1. Harry built an imposing European-style castle by himself
2. Harry had a low opinion on the modern world and
3. Harry really enjoyed the company of young men In whom later he built the castle for and called them his Knights of the Golden Trail

  • Thank you for introducing me to this amazing man and his masterpiece. This is incredible. So amazing that he did this by hand and on his own. This would be such a wonderful place to visit. Awesome video sis!

    Blessings and love,

    Rob

  • Thank you. When you get here I'll show you the pics from where I stayed the night in the Castle several months back. It was cold as crap but it was awesome--my frds and I got to sleep in the rm w/ the fireplace-everybody brought a veggie or meat to throw in the pot of stew they were cooking downstairs over the fire in a BIG pot. Maybe someday during the summer tours u can come back down and we will all go . Thats one way to get u back to Ky. Maybe then Beth can join us all.

  • @Rob87W It is quite a place to visit. It's been a few years since I've been there but the memories of having that castle to ourselves( it was with a boyscout group. it was rented for a tour and an overnight ) for a night have stuck with me. There have been many times I've wanted to return but have yet to get the chance.
