Just some footage of a train getting loaded with iron ore at the mine site. Sorry for how dark some of the pictures are, it's apparently quite dark in the tunnel.

Not all the footage is mine. Some of it was given to me by a few different loadout operators.

  • how many tonnes does it take to fill the train and how mutch is stockpiled up above the tunnel how long does it take to load the train and how long is the train

  • @kibahige . IS that mine managed by Cliffs Natural Resources??

  • @mride460 One mine Im talking about is Minntac owned by US Steel located on the Iron Range in northern Minnesota. Up until 6 years ago the pellets were moved to the Duluth Ore docks be the DMIR. Now the Ore trains the Laker's(ships) are owned by Canadian National.

  • @kibahige....... Not sure what mines you are speaking of but I work at one of the largest iron ore mining operations in the US and the pellets are all moved to the shipping ports by rail still. The mining company owns the mines, the processors, the railroad, and the ore docks.

  • @kibahige thanks for taking the time to reply mate! All the best

  • @tomkkkkk Im not sure where you live but around where I live the mines don't have any of their own trains anymore. The ore trains are hauled in and out by Canadian national now(DM&IR in the past). The mines here wen't from train to truck in the last 20 years(not sure when). My dad actually ran trains back in the bit ages ago. Anyways your best bet to driving the trains is to look into the rail company that operates the mines trains.

  • Hey mate at the moment im an apprentice mechanic But really want to become a LOCOMOTIVE Technician/driver for the mines or something where I do long hauls! Any tips for me mate? Cheers

    Tom
