Our coverage of Super Mega show in Fairfield NJ.
Overall the convention was OK.
I meet a whole new line of stars along with some old friends from my past convention calls.
Over the 2 days the show was going on dealers in the dealers rooms were upset because they were not making hardly anything & little customers.
There was small attendance and that the dealers were away from the stars rather than be in the same room which would have been a better strategy.
One little dealer's room was in a small room hardly unnoticeable.
Even some of the other guests such as the models were complaining about lack of customers.
Cathy St. George who was moved into another room at the last minute from her originally scheduled room stated
"This is absolutely ridiculous!"
At first I was like ok then I noticed that the room had only been used half way while the other half of the room was filled with chairs lined up and a projection screen.
I then wondered "Why is the room half full?" There was more than enough space to hold a few dealers and guests.
All they needed to do was call a few hotel staff & tell them to stack the chairs and make way for more people.
If I were running a show like this I would have people on the ground making the place look good for everyone and making sure everybody is happy and is OK.
They didn't even have the costume contest.
I think what the staff should have done was have the same layout at the Big Apple NY shows where some of the dealers are in the same room as the guests so they could have that traffic of fans & potential customers on their side.
Comments from the dealers ranged from "It could have been much better."
"This is ridiculous, how come we're not in the same room as the celebrities?"
I also noticed the Chips car wasn't there as advertised on the Megashow website which had some attendees wondering.
Overall the show was great for the guests it featured but next year it needs a ton of improvements in accommodation of guests, attendees and dealers.
