We are teaching our horse Finnegan all kinds of tricks by using the clicker method. We first started with just clicking and feeding him. After that we made him touch the frisbee (purple thing in the video) to get his click, followed by a treat.

In this video there is also a part where he is kicking a ball around. This is only our second 'attempt' with him to play soccer. We taught him this in about 5 minutes. Our soccersession after this one he was that enthousiast, that he did not stop kicking the ball to get his treat. He walked in circles in both directions for about 15 minutes - we even left the roundpen.

We also started to teach him to kick the ball into my direction. In our last, fourth, session he really was trying to move the ball towards me, by controlling it with his head and feet.

The clicker training is a fast and effictive way of teaching new tricks to a horse. By perfect timing of the moment they manage to learn within minutes what you are trying to tell them.
