Great women)

What a classy, classy, bunch of women. They were just awesome. Very, very, sexy without being vulgar, indecent, or profane. Today's female artists should take heed.

In the movie "Ball of Fire' Barbara Stanwyck sings this with Gary Cooper,I have to admit I thought it was just a song made for that movie did not know the Andrew Sisters recorded it. Great post! Does anyone know which came first:their recording or the movie?

@1961websurfer The whole "Good Neighbor" policy thing gave North America Carmen Miranda, Desi Arnaz, Xavier Cugat and the Disney Cartoon "The Three Caballeros"

@Shoknifeman Very true. Also don't forget that many people still wanted to travel. Their only options were north to Canada or south to Central and South America. The rest of the world was off limits.

@the1musiclad Well, the whole "Latin craze" of the 40s was a kind of political propoganda aimed at a policy of friendship with Latin-American countries, many of them had ties with the Nazis (An attempt at winning them over to the Allies side). After the war some of these became infamous for hiding Nazi criminals (Brazil and Argentina in particular). Hollywood and the record industry went along with the USA's "Good Neighbor" policy and it spawned a Latin craze.

My parents had this song on a 78 rpm record. It was on the B side, the flip side of the record. Tuxedo Junction was on the A side. At the age 4, I knew this song by heart. Patti Andrews was always the cutup of the group, making funny faces. They were in several Abbott and Costello movies and of course, recorded with Bing Crosby. This is t6he first time I have seen this song done on video.

I love how fun they are. I'm not gong to lie-- I hadn't heard of these ladies until I saw a reference of them on Keri Hilson's video, but I'm starting to appreciate their sound :o)

is it exploiting different cultures or is it popularising different cultures? without the andrews sisters and other acts at the time foreign music may never have been accepted by america.
