A recent study about the priest sex abuse crisis has raised many more questions than it has answered. It may be a report that many leaders in the Church wish had never been conducted in the first place.

This is the 800 lb. gorilla in the middle of the room that no one talks about because of the priest shortage.

@RealCatholicTV This is really well said, and I have never heard it put quite as clearly as this. Thank you for bringing out points like this because it helps to encourage your viewers with solid arguments with which to defend the faith, particularly on the question of homosexuality and the priesthood.

This report is typical because the homosexual lobby have convinced society that homosexuals are born that way, therefore, God given and God's word has to adapt to that truth. Therefore, clerical abuse can't be related to homosexuality and to say so is a crime. Reality is clerical abuse is due to homosexual pedophiles and to not to say that shows this report is written by enemies of the Church. I had a friend once who in the early 70's was rejected from the priesthood because he was gay. Now?

Studies show that in homosexual relationships there are more domestic abuse. Drug abuse is higher. All this compared to heterosexual relationships. It is a disorder. Lets also look @ depression & suicide is higher as well.

A few years ago, a couple of priests, who lived at the Theological College in Washington DC in the late 90s told me that at that time easily around 70-80% of the seminary and staff were homosexual in orientation there. I spoke to one of these priests not too long ago and he said the figure is "much lower now, probably much less than half." There are still many religious houses and seminaries that are predominantly homosexual. In Europe the problem is far worse.

I used to be in a Roman Catholic seminary. I can tell you with certainty that at least 20-30% of my brother seminarians were homosexual or bisexual.
fyi, this is still true after the seminary was reformed, its code of conduct and moral standards made more strict.
I had contact with dozens of priests in the Archdiocese and I noticed a high number of gay priests, disproportionately higher than the general population.
Maybe my seminary experience was unique but I have a feeling that it isn't.

Many attempt to put this down to the stigma involved with being homosexual but the evidence does not support this idea. The authors of a study done in The Netherlands were surprised to find so much mental illness in homosexual people in a country where tolerance of homosexuality is greater than in almost all other countries.

It is true that the church does not teach that homosexuality is a mental disorder, but a spiritual one. However, recent studies show homosexuals have a substantially greater risk of suffering from psychiatric problems than do heterosexuals. We see higher rates of suicide, depression, bulimia, antisocial personality disorder, and substance abuse.

WHITEWASH is RealCatholic at its very BEST .... !!!!!!! The USCCB refuses to speak out against aggressively concerning the Homosexual Agenda in the USA. QUESTION: How many Catholic Universities teach Homosexuality as perfectly ... NORMAL ... ???? I'll bet less than 5% of Catholic Universities teach Homosexuality as a MENTAL DIS-ORDER even though this is the official position of the Catholic Church ... .
jkozuh 9 months ago
@jkozuh The Church's position is that same-sex attraction is disordered (not necessarily a mental disorder) and that homosexual acts are a sin.
RealCatholicTV 9 months ago
OK, ok, ok ... . Homosexuality is a ... DIS-ORDER ... , but it must be a MENTAL Dis-Order because sexual orientation involves ... BRAIN CHEMISTRY .... . Can anyone explain to me how Homosexuality could ever be a ... PURELY Physical Dis-Order ... ????
jkozuh 9 months ago
@jkozuh SPIRITUAL disorder, primarily. The Church deals in spiritual things, mostly, and so when she speaks of matters she is usually speaking of them from a spiritual perspective. Regardless; the Church's teaching is NOT what you said it is - read the Catechism. She says homosexuality is objectively disordered, and that its cause is not known.

Then it is a mistake that the Church does not seem to concerned with stopping. I know for a certain fact at least a half dozen seminarians from various dioceses whom the Church will ordain in the next weeks and who have no problem displaying their homosexual disposition. One even parks his car with his rainbow flag sticker in the seminary parking lot. And, yes, both his bishop and rector know.

@MaxTJH You'll have noticed a theme in our Vortex episodes that the bishops do not often stand up for what is right - but that does not change the fact it IS right and that people need to stand up and insist on it, even if bishops and rectors and so forth are not doing the right thing.
