Start of an E- bike Project. Built this test setup so I could test the current draw of the motor. I bought a motor speed controller (pwm, 12/24v, 30 amp),and housed it in this box with a fan to cool the mosfets. An inline fuse of 25 amps protects the controller. The motor drew 10 amps aprox. The batteries actually limited the draw here. Under a load the motor pulls well over 30 amps. I will need to beef up this controller.

  • I got motor that looks like this, it's from a golf bag. 12V. I did some experiments to see if I can use it on e-bike but it takes too many amps. Try this - lock the shaft so it can't move and the body too. put power on for 1 second only and see how much it draws. Mine took 75A. That means that on e-bike at most stress ex. going up big hill it'll draw around 50A at 12V. way to much if you want to double or tripple the voltage later. BUT it might not be the same motor off course. Just an idea.

  • I like this project, cool setup man, I hope to see more videos from you :-)
