  • our band director Bill Schmidt just died of cancer after battling it for almost a year now, this was his absolute favorite! and our wind ensemble is playing it at his wake! half of us couldn't even get through it today in rehersal! he was at SMCHS, here in Bismarck, North Dakota, for over 30 years as a band director.

  • @ppmaterial

Got any other homework we can do for you while we're at it?

  • 2 1/2 years and still no one missed the like button.

    Not surprised.

I played this at the 9-10 all district band too! I also went to Mr. Jackson's service at St. Matthew's. Providence played it AMAZING! No one knew he'd go so fast when he never said a word about what he was going through. He's looking down on us and I know he's so proud of each and every one of us.

  • Yes, I know that was by Mr. Jackson. What I was trying to say was that Mr. Jackson was the guest composer for the 9-10 all district band. I almost went to Providence (I go to South), and I know that it was commissioned for Providence. Our band director told us about Mr. Jackson, and I feel very bad for everyone over at Providence. I went to South Charlotte, so I know a lot of people at Providence, and a lot of people in their band.

  • @NowCreateIt I believe that was Providence High School? Our band director Paul Jackson just died of cancer as well. We're playing this song in memory of him at his funeral service. Nobody knew he would go because he practically came back from the dead several times. It's sad to know he won't be here, but we all know he'll be up there with all the other directors, conducting the music of God and the world, i apologize for bringing religion into this, but the emotion knows no limits. *Cries*

  • @radcliffewentz This piece was commissioned by our band director for one of our student's father, who died of heart failure. Our band director also very recently died of cancer, and we too are playing it at his service. It is truly an amazing piece.

  • This song is the most beautiful song I've ever heard....when I played it, our conductor took it too fast, and if I remember correctly, the tempo of this song is at 60 bpm, and he took it at like 72-80 bpm It pissed me off >:( , but I hope that one day, I'll be able to conduct this masterpiece...

  • I just played this at all-district, our guest composer is a band director from the high school that I almost went to, and this is a piece that was commissioned for that high school.

  • @rsdorg123 Dude, I totally felt it... o_O

  • JHS is playing this. I'd know, I'm in the band. :D
