@Dulcimerist But Ireland was definately Neutral during WW2, Dulci. You can always claim that Belfast [which was definately bombed by Germany, with the loss of around 900 lives is part of the North, and therefore under BNritish soil.

However, how do you explain the Nazi bombing of Dublin, which was and is definately in the South, and not covered by British protocol?

@rabsmiff Last I checked, Belfast was ruled by the United Kingdom, not the Irish. ;) That bombing was a valid British-held target during the war.

I'm not trying to teach you history. Nazism would have spread like a disease if it wasn't stopped..and what happened at Auschwitz would have continued throughout the world.

Hitler would have dominated ALL nations come time, big or small. But first he had the USSR and Allied bombings on his plate. Small irritants like the French Underground were tackled with ruthless efficiency by the Nazis, as well as larger problems.

He would've gone on rampage on island like that...if he'd wanted to. Ireland at that time was the poorest country in western Europe, without any support. Including ones from the USA. @gekkomatic the Nazis had much larger ambitions than a small island like Ireland, however Hitler would have got to Ireland eventually, even if it was neutral [Germany still bombed Belfast and Dublin, despite Irish neutrality] .

If this happened, he would have had to sort out the friction between Protestant and Catholics, which would be his 'inherited' problem from the Brits. His methods would not have included the use of rubber bullets, but more akin to shelling dissident areas into oblivion.
