Prostitute is murdered in Amsterdam's Red Light District.

19 year old Berti was stabbed in her kamer at 38 Oudezijds Achterburgwal, Amsterdam on 20th February 2009.
I heard that police made an arrest but don't know if there was a conviction.

i can't believe that killer was not found . i don't want suppose nothing , but all kamers in red light are communicating ......and other girls in the near kamers don't know nothing? ..i can't believe it.

@flex1121 He might well have been. I believe an arrest was made but it's not easy for a non Dutch speaker like myself to find out if he was convicted. I will reword the description.

I arrived in Amsterdam exactly one day after this happened, just came across the little shrine while sightseeing and found it both unbelievable and very sad. I've looked up on the net now and again to see if the murderer was caught, have never found anything. R.I.P. Thanks for respecting her, George, with this tribute.

amsterdam is safe, friendly, and not only about the red light district or smoking. its sad tourists come here just thinking that. well not for the business there obviously.

I've only just come across this story and it's made me feel very sad. I never met the girl but I've met a number like her - generally speaking, nice kids doing an unusual job. As for safe, if you don't feel safe in the Amsterdam RLD you probably won't feel safe anywhere.
