An early-morning warrant sweep in Clay County brought in more than 30 suspects wanted on drug charges, police said Wednesday.
KMBC's Bev Chapman reported that the sweep, called Operation Bad Candy, is the result of 18 months of police work. Ten law enforcement agencies were going after people who are accused of selling or dealing drugs to undercover police officers.
"Kansas City, Oakview, Pleasant Valley -- these agencies came together so we could serve these warrants today," said Ray Franks with the Clay County Sheriff's Office. A secret grand jury returned 45 indictments. At last count, officers had arrested 36 people.
