  • They have Canadian Distributors, you can contact them and they can tell you where to get it in BC

  • Good advertizement for their product - but nothing about how to ship it! I'd like to see ahead to head - oz. - oz. - if you will of these products. My children are getting out more with their friends and I'd like the best - not always the most expensive.

  • @3buffalo13 ,

As an EPA regulated product, each one of the manufactures has to put the spray information on their labels and there is a comparison chart available on the Counter Assault website, that puts the label information from each recognized product into an easy readable chart format.

  • Where can i buy this in canada BC>?

  • It's not hard to see why it's effective if you've ever been sprayed with the stuff before. I got just a tiny bit on my cheek once, and it stung and burned like hell. I imagine it's enough to blind an animal if they take very much in the eyes.

  • the bear was probably just reacting to being startled. is there any video proof that shows that it will actually stop a bear attack?

  • Yes, it will work on anything with eyes and lungs ( :

  • Although no formal testing has been done on Mt. Lions, it has been used and shown to be effective on Mt. Lions. I am sure any of the spray manufactures would be happy to do the formal testing, if someone would be willing to front the quarter of a million dollars to get the testing passed and approved by the EPA!

  • It has been used on elephants to protect crop fields in africa, it has been used by photographers in Texas against deer, it has been used by wildlife managers against moose and in Montana it has been used against Mountain Lions, virtually all animals that have mucus membranes will show effects of the spray, take into account "Pepper Spray" and "Bear Spray" are two entirely different products, Bear spray is regulated, Pepper spray is not!

  • True. The eyes are sensitive in all animals.

Yet, the drive to attack might be enough to allow something like a mountain lion to continue its attack despite pain in the eyes... particularly if the animal was really hungry.

I wish somebody would test the product to see. But pepper spray would be better than tossing pine cones at an attacking cat. That is, if you were lucky enough to see it before it jumped on your back & sunk its teeth into your neck/spine which is what they routinely do.
