Tennessee Tech University is deeply involved in the development of habitat conservation plans (HCPs) for the Cumberland Plateau. By bringing public and private stakeholders together, HCPs allow development to go forward even when it may threaten endangered species. HCPs have been used in Western states for years, but the Cumberlands HCPs for forest and water resources are the first large-scale HCPs in Tennessee.
