When You Go (written by Sean Blackburn) used with permission

I've been wanting to do a cover of this song for a while now. It's from one of my favorite albums, "Ace Pickin' and Sweet Harmony," by Sean Blackburn and Dakota Dave Hull.
When I inquired about doing the song to Jani, Sean's close friend during the last years of his life, she said it would be okay.
After I discovered a video of Sean doing a song with singing partner, Liz Masterson, I thought it would be great to edit him into my version. Donna, who had the original posted on her site, was kind enough to give me the go ahead for my project.
So, I took some of Sean's voice and guitar from the original recording, and tried my best to match it to the video of him singing and playing another song. It's not perfect, but I liked the end result. And, even though it's mostly a cover of the song, I also like to consider it a tribute to Sean Blackburn and his music.
I only wish I was half the musician he was.

Wonderful job, John. I still remembering hearing this song for the first time back in about 1982 on A Prairie Home Companion. I wanted to learn it then, but couldn't find any lyrics or chords or even a recording. Thanks to this, I'm going to learn it now. A wonderful song, and two fine performances - both Sean's and yours.
