Beautiful piece of music, if somewhat sad. Good to know what's being said now, I want to learn the whole thing in latin, so I can sing it to a young lady when I get the chance... :D

@LeatherCladVegan Could be in reference to roulette, since most of Orff's Carmina Burana is about gambling and Spring.

Thanks! I suppose that's probable. Although I think the general undertone of the lyrics is rather optimistic about love. Or did I miss the point completely?

I'm pretty sure it's a reference to the Catherine wheel, which was a medieval torture.

what is the idiomatic meaning of the phrase "whosoever loves this much turns on the wheel"?
is 'turning on the wheel' some kind of hint to a proverb or mythological idea?

purus latina

me encanta esta cancion cuando fumo mota
It is a reference to the Wheel of Fortune (the medieval one, not the game show, which is actually based on the aforementioned Medieval version), a motif that appears repeatedly throughout the Carmina Burana. It basically means that peoples' fortunes are governed by the random spin of a wheel. Someone who is in a state of happiness one day could have everything they love crushed the next.
