Actually, there was an episode (Prisoner of the Monster) where Bruce found a cure, but there was a ray device (The "Solar Crystallizer") that was stolen by some evil people, and the only thing that could stop it was - you guessed it - THE HULK. Maybe that's the episode you're thinking of??

Isn't there a follow up to this episode? If my memory serves me correctly , Banner finds a cure, but the slime comes back and Banner has to turn himself back to the Hulk in order to stop the slime - or yellow mud.
