Iron Maiden's "Back in the Villiage" on bass - LRRG

Powerslave is perhaps the best Maiden album I have, all told. The tunes range from classic to epic, and Steve Harris writes some of the tastiest Maiden of all for this album, and his classic "Harris click" appears (thanks to Nate for coining the term).

This album truly put Iron Maiden on top of the Metal Scene way back in 1984. It was a glorious year, my headgear came off.

"Back in the Villiage" is the first of three songs on the second side of the album, and it comes in with a bone-jarring crunch. Harri's lines are sick in this tune, and the song never relents in its speed and energy.

By the way, I have a friend who requested this tune (Gimpbass).

I do not have the endurance or accuracy of Steve Harris with my fingers. My lack of long-term finger power comes from starting out playing bass with a pick. If you are thiking of playing bass....force yourself to play with your fingers so you don't have to be a Geez like me.

Thanks, man. To be honest, this was an early video for me on youtube, and I was pre-emptively trying to avoid the trolls and hecklers. After two and a half year of doing this, I have found the trolls and hecklers come anyways, so fuck 'em.

I don't apologize for the pick any more. In fact, if some troll wants to rib on me for the pick, they find themselves banned. I am so sick of people's pick prejudices that I don't even bother engaging them any more.

Hi, I have a 2004 Midenight Blue Ricky Bass, is that a 4003 or a 4001? Is it custom painted?

It is a 4001 burgundyglo, made in 1974. As far as I know, it is the original paint, although I refinished it at one time (and badly I might add).

Only fanboys care about stuff like that. I use whatever sounds best, and if that means a pick, so be it. A few people can whine about it, but it isn't going to stop me, and it isn't going to stop anyone else from being entertained by it.

So if you don't like a pick used for Maiden, avoid my channel, but do not think you will change my opinion one iota...Maiden is music, not a technique.

@zodiakironfist dude that's such a fucking coincidence, I also covered this song on my Rickenbacker 4001, check out my vids. I only saw your video now!!! And like IMaiden89 said, I'm a finger player, and when I play with a pick I SUCK!!! There's a video on my profile that shows it, I can't fucking keep time at all. :) So kudos for that!!
