Rolling Deep in Southwest Philly: The Eastwick Bike Patrol

The Eastwick Bike Patrol received a substantial grant for new bikes and bullet-proof vests as well as recognition from the U.S. Attorney's office, Philadelphia Housing Authority, and State Senator Anthony Williams. They also have been granted an expanded mission to patrol the Paschall Homes, a notorious public housing complex in Southwest Philadelphia. These volunteers put the safety of the streets ahead of their own. If you'd like to recognize that kind of selfless public service, please contact them:

So to be in the Town Watch in this PHA public housing, you have to wear a bulled proof vest? People, that is EFFED UP. What is PHA doing? Why is PHA so full of crime and drugs? It's time to shut this down if that is they way it is.

Why is PHA housing full of drugs and crime like this? Why are evictions not working? How are criminals allowed back into these taxpayer subsidized apartments? Why are there not enough effective lifetime bans of the convicted criminals from PHA housing? This housing should be for seniors and the disabled with no ability of the criminal element to gain a foothold. The state needs to cut this ineffective spending if PHA can't manage its properties.
