Lagos to Solve Traffic, Overpopulation Problems with Development

Lagos, Nigeria is already struggling with overpopulation problems. There is widespread poverty, poor sanitation, pollution and perhaps the worst traffic in the world. And the worst may be yet to come. The United Nations projects that by the year 2015 the population will grow to 20 million, making it the third-largest city in the world. But as VOA Brian Padden reports, city officials are surprisingly optimistic about the future. They say Lagos has nowhere to go but up.

Overpopulation is a huge problem. The idea that it is good for Nigeria is just baloney. Nigeria is on the edge of population explosion. And it is not going to be pretty in a decade or so. Poverty and misery will take full control. So, instead of touting overpopulation as strength, the commissioner should start talking about birth control.If overpopulation is a huge problem in China and India, Nigeria is no exception. Overpopulation is one of the major problems in Lagos.
