@Rupande2 India's stupid for becoming a republic. If India would had stayed under the British monarchy, there wouldn't be so much poverty and corruption in india. Look at all the other commonwealth countries that stayed under the british monarch - they are rich and beautiful in democratic ways, there are rights for women as well as the men. Police in india treat women and children like dirt bags. So god save the british queen.

@thr33wisemonks YEah but really the Indian Army could have held off the british army for years had it not been for bribes from the brtish royal family to the hindu rajas.

They used to have royal families for different princely states. There were even times in which nearly all India was under one sovereign. Eventually Britain conquered India, but the rajas and maharajas continued, but under overall British rule. India was granted independence in 1947 and remained a monarchy (under King George VI) until 1950 when it became a republic.
