The Beatles were extremely burnt out and bored with touring at this stage, due to the crazy schedules and atmosphere, the primitive sound equipment and touring accomodations of the era. They would quit two months later. They are a bit ragged here and there, but sound a lot better than I remember this the first time I saw it years ago. Still they were just going through the motions at this point. Lennon didn't even bother getting on the organ during "I'm Down", which he normally did.

aaah lame, I have this in so much poorer quality than this.. *sigh*
It's simply charming to see just how disorganised and frankly unprofessional concerts were back then!
Messing around with their amps and tuning their guitars at the start, with no hint of a roadie rushing on to help Paul out with his mischievously elusive microphone. And 'new single' Paperback Writer was an absolute shambles! To be fair, it's probable they barely had time to rehearse the song since recording it.
The Beatles are still the greatest band that ever lived though.

I saw them in 1966 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Mo. You absolutely couldn't hear them with all the screaming, including my girlfriend.
