  • Fr. Barron claims that god is love and that to resist that love is torment similar to the brimstone descriptions of hell. This first assumes that an unbeliever is "resisting" anything. Once again, I am not resisting god's love, I don't have any reason to think god's love even exists. And I am a perfectly happy person, so I'm not sure where this claim of torment has a basis in reality.

  • @jmvizanko You're "perfectly happy." Right. If you pull out all of the implications of your dissatisfaction, you will be led to what I mean by "God."

  • @wordonfirevideo Um, yes, I'm a perfectly happy person. Why are you assuming I'm not? What "dissatisfaction" are you talking about?

  • @jmvizanko So you are in full possession of every truth your mind seeks, every good that your will desires, every justice that your heart yearns for??

  • @brendos444 I do indeed renounce Calvinist doctrines on free will and the nature of God! After all, I'm a Catholic priest.

  • @kubrox91 Skeptics are usually skeptical about everything except their own skepticism. Please try not to be so hard on yourself; your tradition has a long and respected history, whatever skeptics might say today. You could do worse than to re-embrace the Catholicism of your youth, in my humble opinion.

  • @billybagbom well, since that with debates between hardcore protestants and myself, i've been in such despair and agony. i wish i could go back to God the way I was raised: rosary, crossing myself, and the eucharist. now I have no idea what is what.

  • @kubrox91 It is, of course, possible that Angelica was either deceived and/or is herself a deceiver, and that she has no more information about the current whereabouts of Pope John Paul II or Michael Jackson than you or I. I think we should be open to the possibility that God might speak to us through just about anyone or anything, but should be equally skeptical about every particular alleged revelation. There are such things spies and terrorists, but we need not believe every particular report

  • I never said it was for me. I'm just pointing out what you have wrong.

  • @wordonfirevideo Um, no. Perhaps we are using a very different definition of "perfectly happy?" As in, I am happy with my life, my job, my family, etc. I have no existential crisis, and I am not a selfish or nasty person. No I do not possess every truth my mind seeks, but so what? If I had nothing left to learn, life would be boring.

All I was trying to say was that I'm not miserable, like this video seems to imply I should be as I am an atheist and all.

  • @jmvizanko As I said, this video is not for you. You need to look at something for those who are just beginning to ask religious questions. Take a look at my videos on God's existence.

  • @wordonfirevideo Yes, it tries to make believers "ok" with hell. I'm just pointing out why it has no substance. Hell is completely unjustified, and if it was real, unbelievers are not going their out of rebellion, stubbornness, or selfishness, they just simply do not think your religion is true. You have to digest a lot of negative and untrue generalizations about unbelievers for this argument to even be palpable, let alone good.
