Angel Villalona's inability to manage the strike zone is going to be a major hurdle in his development. This at-bat came after Conor Gillaspie walked, Buster Posey walked, and Roger Kieschnick ripped a double into the gap. The A's pitcher -- they didn't have names on their jerseys and I didn't recognize the guy -- was wild and not commanding the zone well. Villalona helped him out by striking out on three pitches.
I'm going to see Villalona play at least a few more times this sping/summer, but I continue to believe that he's one of the most overrated prospects in baseball. At this point, I'll be surprised if he ever turns into even an average big leaguer.
Wow, chill out he's just 18 years old.

Yeah, poor kid. He's only batting .322. Five dingers. Strikeouts? 23. Which isn't that bad. The hottest hitter on the team, Brandon Crawford, who they've already moved up to AA, has 32. Oh yeah, he's only 18 years old. Jeez, interesting crystal ball ya got there....
