i had a weird dream the other day that Jo was in season 5 and dean and sam find her at a bar singing. then dean goes up there and sings with her (bc jensen is a good singer too. lol)
i know it was a weird dream but i really miss jo and alona!!!

I don't know for sure, but I think it was to put in the effect of having Dean lose yet another loved one, and pushing him one step closer to the edge...and maybe even saying yes to Michael. And Supernatural does have a track record of killing off female characters, I'm afraid; Mary->Jessica->Madison->Bela->

what was the purpose of killing her off?
She's the only female to grace the show in a reoccuring role that fans ended up liking.
Jo hadn't been mentioned since season 2 so why bring her back just to kill her.
