Sorry to come in so late here but how did you make the cross hair lines or were those part of the original camera?

Hey,
I just finished mine, works great, I think just an eletronic edgefinder would work better, but for what I am using for now that webcam is just perfect. Thanks for the idea man

nice idea

Yeah, I use it to line the center of the spindle up on the corner of my work piece. I make that the origin in my programs.

I could see this being a life saver when trying to center something on a lathe...
So many times you need to use a 4 jaw chuck to hold your work.
Depending on the shape and if you need to hold off center a 4 jaw can be a bear to zero in. This camera in the tail stock could save TONS of time. Your a genius DAN

@circuitgenius i'll have to remember to try this with the lathe, good idea.

What guarantees that the line-of-sight of the camera is coincident with the Z axis?
janedoe1024 1 year ago
@janedoe1024 by testing at different z heights during initial calibration

Hi,
Do you still use this? Does it work good doest it work making one?
I mean I just did one for me but I am having trouble to center my camera. I just wanted to use this to find edges os parts before milling...

I dont use this for finding the edges anymore, i use the automatic probing instead.
This is just for checking things like the lead angle on an endmill before grinding these days.
