Ghostwhiskey~ "darkness darkness, be my blanket. hold my head, and let me sleep." i believe this song is more about the comfort and relative safety of nightfall after another day in Viet Nam, facing death all day, and relief in not succumbing to it. "Keep my mind form constant yearning toward the things i cannot be, things i cannot see" refers to the life he would have chosen if not drafted to war.
I believe this was featured on the soundtrack to True Lies (fun film).
This would have been either slightly before or slightly after the release of the heavily "produced" but simply fantastic Dust record. The trees broke up only a few years later, scattering to the four winds...Barrett Martin would go on to make some fabulous jazz records (not to mention Mad Season, the Mike McCready side project with Layne Staley on vox). Van Connor would form the stoner rock group VALIS.
Still one of the best played and sung covers of this song I've ever heard.

One of Lanegan's best vocal performances, he never likes to sing high but he sounds amazing when he does.
