Bad mic, so in case you couldn't hear me, these are the words:
"You all turn away from me, trying not to catch my eye, but you didn't turn fast enough did you? You don't like my raspy voice, do you? I got this raspy voice 'cause nobody around here EVER LISTENS TO ME. You don't like that I scratch so much; yes, and excuse me, I scratch so much because my NUERONS are on FIRE. And I admit: my smile is not at its pepsodent best, because I think my caps must've somehow gotten osteoperosis. And if my eyes seem to be twirlin' around like fruit flies...the better to see you with, my dears.

Look at me. Look at me, you mammalian-brained LUNKHEADS. I'm not just talking to myself! I'm talking to you, too! And to you! And you, and you, and you and you. I know what you're thinking. You're all thinkin' I'm crazy! You think I care? You people look at my shopping bags, call me crazy cause I save this junk..well, what should we call the ones who buy it? It's my belief that we all, at sometime or another, secretly ask ourselves the question, "Am I crazy?" in my case, the answer came back a resounding YES! You're thinking, "Well, how does a person know if they're crazy or not?" Well, sometimes you don't know. Sometimes you go your whole life suspecting you are, but never really know for sure. Sometimes you know for sure because you have SO MANY PEOPLE telling you you're crazy. That its your word against everyone elses. Another sign is when you see life so clear sometimes you black out. This is your typical visionary variety, who has flashes of insight, but can't get anyone to listen to them, because their insights make them sound so.....crazy.

  • I just wanted to say thanks, this was really inspiring. I'm doing the same monologue for speech team. It's my first year and I was so lost until I saw your video. Thank you! :D

  • @writingfromtheeheart Thank you, and good luck :)

  • Only two critiques I can think of: Y u no do full monologue?!?! and In theatre you aren't ever supposed to say "That's it." or "I'm done." or anything like that. But otherwise I thought this was a very good version of trudy!

  • @chrissyissocoollike Haha, this was the piece that was assigned to me at NYFA, so this is all I had been practicing. Thank you, though. This was three years ago, I don't do theatre any more - well, I do it for fun, but I haven't chosen it as a career. Appreciate your comment.

  • ahem...i have given this monolugue several times...and you completley fuck this up...she's not on the verge of tears. she's pissed

  • @killercuppiecake96 Ahem..you're a pompous elitist with some sort of golden dildo stuck up your ass. Try expanding your mind and learn something about artistic creation and interpretation. It takes a lot to change an entire work of art around into something new. So, until you learn that you can keep your criticism to yourself. By the way...ahem...it's spelled, "completely" and you should have used "fucked." For someone who thinks they know so much, you really should get an education.

  • @DannyHiggs I appreciate your response. I wish I still acted.

  • Gosh... I forgot all about this. That was three years ago. I've given up acting since then, though I still have a secret passion for it. Right now I'm going to school majoring in Film and Broadcast Journalism. HA. This was funny to watch.

  • The acting and commitment here is very good, in a vacuum. Though, as others have said, it's not quite true to the character as she exists for the rest of the play. Trudy is very confident in her own craziness, and feels somewhat sorry for anyone who isn't crazy (or at least can't admit they're crazy). And she does have friends, the counter guy at Howard Johnson's, Brandy and Tina, the aliens from outer space, and maybe most notably: the audience. This scene establishes confidence, not weakness.

  • @MJistheKOPforever thanks, and im sure you can.
