William Topaz McGonagall, who died in 1902, is widely regarded as the worst poet ever to write in the English language. "The Tay Bridge Disaster" is his most famous bad poem. This is the first group recitation of the poem done on a train while crossing the bridge.

  • Your video is popular on Male

  • My God, that *is* a horrible bit of poetry! Congratulations!

  • @RevealingResearch yup, certainly wiil do sir, thanks!

  • @ytrnjdikzgt You can find more videos of the IgNobel events in Dundee here at my channel

  • Hello, the video does show some of the regular commuters joining in. I wouldn't read too much in to accents. The train from Aberdeen to London is populated by a diverse range of people. I was on train and have lived in Dundee for 7 years but still have a distinctive Somerset accent.

The reading followed the 2011 IgNobel Show held at the University of Dundee the previous evening. The IgNobel speakers on the train were on their homeward journey. Visit my channel for more videos from this event

  • Hi, Judging from the accents of the people heard, it seems that the locals did not join in the reading. How is that ? How many people were involved in the reading, and what was the circumstances of this reunion ? Was there a scientific event in both Edinburgh and Dundee for so many igNobel prize contestants be in such a high density in this somewhat improbale location ?

  • No train crash? Good Lord! Next vids coming! Hurray!
