Israel's Sudanese 'enemy nationals' - 07 Jul 07

More than five hundred Sudanese refugees have fled to Israel to escape genocide in Darfur in the last two months. Many have been shot dead while crossing the border from Egypt, or imprisoned in Israel under an archaic law which declares them 'enemy nationals'. Now Israel is threatening to deport them. Al Jazeera's Sherine Tadros speaks to refugees who have made the perilous journey about the past they are escaping and the uncertainty of their future.

1000 refugees? Even for 2007 that is an extremely low estimate.

Note that many, if not most, of these people are Muslim running from Arab Muslim militias. Israel is the only country taking them in, although they do not have the resources to care for the thousands trying to cross the border. So far, no help from the US, EU, South America, Japan, China, India, Russia or even the African states. Forget about aid from Arab countries!
