Let Glasgow Flourish

"Let Glasgow Flourish" is the motto enthusiastically proclaimed anew today. A resurgent former post-industrial city, the City Council is hoping to re-inspire the populace with this ancient exhortation. But that's not the full motto. The original continues "...by the preaching of your word and the praising of your name". Is there any room for the latter part. And what does Glasgow's full motto mean anyway? Terry McCutcheon reports.

Full of contradictions and based on a very literal minded interpretation of things written by people who believed the earth was flat. But if anyone wants to obsessively believe the myths of ancient Middle Easterm people they're free to do so. We re-invented God in our image, not the other way round. The guy in this video seems to think that the events in the Revelation of St John will actually happen.

I'm astonished by the careful argument in this comment. It seems self-referential in parts. Sometimes people say things which are so wrong or stupid there's not much one can really say in reply. I'm glad you specified what the contradictions were. And it was nice you demonstrated your own over-literalism & lack of clear thinking by the silly old assertion about flat earthers. If you really were happy for people to believe ancient myths, you wouldn't have written this. Terry's much more coherent!

@revholland1 there is almost nothing defending the reliability of scriptures, josephus?,Many studies of the historicity of the bible have shown little or nothing to back up the substance of the bible, in fact additions and omission occur. Men have nipples because the fetus is female to begin with and exposure to testosterone developes males characteristics, so nipples are redundant in male design.So to sum up, god is love...... or else!...."love me or i will burn you for eternity" int nat nice?

Only God can convert men and convince you of the truth. It is all there if you check it out. There is enough stuff out there defending the reliability of the Scripture texts etc, and God has given enough evidence of His existence. You have heard the truth, and especially as you say you were brought up in such a tradition. I have therefore no more to add or say. I wish you well and pray the God of the Bible who saved me will do the same for you too. I used to rip the Bible up before God saved me

@shortshifty .... No, dinosaus were not named such until the mid 19th cent. The word itself was not coined until then. Before that they were actually called dragons. And yes, they are in the Bible. Your average dragan was about the size of a sheep. The bones etc dug up are often incomplete and mere guess work is used in putting together what they think they have found. additions to stories by people who have a specific agenda, like " controling rome" the bible has little or nothing to do with god and everything to do with social control, so far rev i havent taken any of your unchristian insults, i don't mean to upset you, i stumbled in here, had my say, didnt expect any reply
