Some viewers messaged me asking for more underwater breathholding video, so I figured I'd give it a shot. To my surprise, I surpassed my previous personal best, 1:55, by almost ten seconds! My 1:55 mark was done in a pool, hanging on the side and not moving. This attempt -- I make it as about 2:03 -- wasn't completely static (unmoving), either, which makes it even more of a surprise.

I was wearing about ten lbs of scuba weights (that's the clinking sound you hear in the vid).

  • imagine goin in there at midnight....... some scary. I couldnt go in there, i dont like big fish... lol:)

  • @allthatjazz3000 I swam through the tunnels for a little while after full dark, with a small head-mounted diving lamp. There are no other lights in the area so it's VERY dark. It was scary enough that I never did it twice. :)

  • im becoming a river guide out there.

  • @cheater775 Cool, I know a lot of guys who guide on the Ocoee. Which co. will you be working for?

  • Where is this??

  • @Randomize6000 This is in the Ocoee River in Tennessee, in the Cherokee National Forest. Nearest city is Ducktown. These tunnels are just a bit upriver from the Ocoee Whitewater Center on US64. For more info, try searching in google for "Blue Hole Ocoee Whitewater Center Ducktown" and my page for this place should pop right up.

  • @Pellaz2112 Ocoee River Rat's Some of the guys (Jeremiah and joshua aka Heckle and Jeckle) and theres also Moe and Ray. Moe is the one training me.

  • @TheMegaInferno A minute and a half is more than most people can manage, especially young folk. Great job!

I was wearing a belt with a few pounds of lead SCUBA weights, which helped....didn't have to expend any effort to stay down at the bottom. Also, I'd had nothing to eat that morning and was 'empty', and that really seems to help a lot. Clear your mind, too: less anxiety and maybe a slower heart rate.

My best time last summer was a little over 90 seconds, so I gotta get better. :)

  • AWESOme i could only last about a minute in a half

    but still thats AMAZING,

    how do you do it

  • Nahh, I'm so ugly my camera would break.

I -was- very surprised at my time, though, considering I'm 5'11" and about 230 lbs.

I probably did better because I hadn't eaten anything all day -- being a little 'empty' seems to help a lot.
