Ok can we call Mark British to save confusion I'm glad the Americans didn't call him English- they'd have seen "beast !" Mark owes a great deal to Cycling U.K. along with Scots and Welsh riders (some of whom just keep winning !) A big part of their success is down to the Brit taxpayer before they sign with the big teams.....

the UK (which does include the Isle of Man) is represented at the olympics.
However the UK is always called Britain in the olympics which is incorrect by definition.
A good example would be an athlete from Northern Ireland- they would represent 'Britain' in the olympics but as we know Northern Ireland is part of the UK not Britain

if the isle of man is not in britain how come cavendish represented britain at the olympics

it's in the british isles though, is a dependent of the UK and has the queen as it's head of state....

LOL...er...yes to all those questions. They've had a national flag for over 1000 years. Their parliament is the oldest on the planet (979AD). The Isle of Man used to have an Empire (The Kingdom of Mann and the Isles). At the Battle of Clontarf, the Manx killed the last King of Ireland. The Isle of Man has NEVER been part of Britain or the UK, or the EU.
How on earth can you be NINETEEN and not know any of these things? Or at least, why not GOOGLE 'MANX NATIONAL ANTHEM', MANX FLAG etc?

He's from the Isle of Man, not britain. The IOM has never been part of Britain or the UK.
