Elon Musk unveils the new Tesla Sedan at the SpaceX rocket factory. I was fortunate to take the first test drive, and I let the video run for the whole ride. Woot!

I don't like the glass cockpit, unless they can make it clearly readable when the sun is streaming in on it. OLED screens would help here as they are naturally very bright and don't need backlighting. When the AWD model comes out, along with the new li-ion/silicon battery, this car will be the car to have. It is gorgious. A second motor will make it even faster, and the new battery, when it arrives, will make charging a weekly affair, instead of daily.
You've got to hand it to Tesla. They gave the first ride to the first CUSTOMER and NOT "one of their investors" like he initially said. Says a lot about how they feel about their customers.
I agree with your evaluation of hydrogen, but my understanding is that electric engines as they are constructed today are not going to work in larger vehicles such as the semis that currently move most of our goods. I've heard it proposed that natural gas engines could handle this and produce much cleaner waste than conventional diesel engines. Of course, electric engines are still ideal for smaller vehicles.
Hydrogen cannot. The engines are inherently expensive with exotic materials like platinum. Its fuel will for the foreseeable future simply come from natural gas. Much cheaper engines that run directly off of natural gas are already in production. An economy based on a mix of electric and natural gas vehicles is much more efficient, flexible, and robust than one that attempts to replace one fossil fuel cartel with another. Hydrogen is a distraction.
It will be you looking to hitch hike when you take your Tesla anywhere in the North. Good luck defrosting your windows, heating your car WHILE keeping a decent charge. Did you notice how he opened the door to talk to the cop in this video at 3:45? Why didn't he just roll down the window? GM bashers need to keep in mind the fact that GM builds cars that can be driven anywhere in the world without concern. Tesla currently does not. You are comparing apples and oranges my friend.
