Ten years ago, my friend Jackson and I went to Dickie Haydon's house to see a show in his basement during our freshman year of high school. A band named Woodbine Drive played that show. After the show Jackson and I made it a goal that we would attempt to start a band and try to some day play ONE show in Dickie's basement. This is all coming from two guys who had never played an instrument. Three of my closest friends: Matt, Sully and CD decided to join us on this attempt. To this day, those guys I played music with in high school are still my best friends.
In this video, Woodbine Drive gets back together for a 10 year reunion and plays "My Buddy Commander." If it weren't for these guys, our band (Scenic View) would have never made it out of Dickie's Basement and I'm not sure if we would still be as good as friends as we are today. They were front and center at our first show till our last show. The Free All-Ages shows we played together on Friday nights were times we would drop everything going on during our school week and make it a time to gather with friends. Words can not describe how much this band and the rest of the Lexington music scene played on my youth and shaping me into who I am today. Thanks Matt Chris Nathan and Britton!
Good story bro!
