I was going to wait a week to post this video to go with the completed part 2 however just to keep me honest I will post part one now. I will be helping with a private fireworks display soon and will make this board one of the firings.
I received an email from a gentleman shooting fireworks in the United Kingdom at a military base for returning pilots. He has consumer type fireworks and is lighting them one at a time and wanted to set up a display that would light one cake after the other. He does have quick match but is unable to get Visco fuse. I gave him my advice and here it is in video form. I am doing this experiment with quick match and quick fuse to see what the results will be. The last cakes in the firing are an experiment for me to see if the fire will safely ignite the first mortar on the last cakes. Or it just may blow the side of the cake out I do not know.
We will all have to wait at least 7 to 10 days until my second posting on the results. I hate to keep you waiting but I have to wait also. But in the end perhaps we will all learn something new and fun.

  • Hi Dave,

Thanks very much for posting this tutorial. I've been busy at work and this is the first time I've checked back. Great tutorial, I'm going to try this technique at our Guy Fawkes Night (main annual fireworks event for us) and see what happens.

    Thanks again

    Jon

  • Just be sure to go from mortar to fuse then mortar to fuse with the quick match.. The one where I went mortar to mortar did not work. Have fun at that event.

  • Very good idea, and on top of that you can have this fuses in the middle of the cake, so midway through you can move to a larger cake (finale for instance). If that paper cap in the tubes is too thick, maybe you can use a screwdriver and pull it out, so go right to the shell (lighting the lift easier). I want to thank you for all the work you have done and videos you have uploaded, you have truly opened up my eyes in seeing how much you can customize displays. Well done.

  • Thanks for that compliment. Of course I am going to do my best to video the display with this also. Yes, I am tempted to go back to this board and pull the plugs on those last two cakes to assure it will light, however my curiosity is getting the best of me and I am going to leave them in. I suspect the quick match one may blow past the plug and I am unsure about the quick fuse side. What the hell it is an experiment.
