Astonishing voice, many of her colleagues considered her even better Wagnerian soprano than Varnay and Nilsson. She wasn't appreciated for Bayreuth forces at that time, she replied: What is more resonant? A cello or a violin?

@kentonshade Please give us a break, and stop talking nonsense. It´s not for nothing that LA Nilsson is who she is, a true legend.
Yet, no one can deny this lady having a fairly nice and big voice. Though, she is nothing but a good singer.

Absolutely astounding. I didn´t even know this singer had ever existed. Never read anything about her(nor heard).No one near me ever mentioned her.
There is no explanaation for this. She has remarcable qualities, the best. Quite an experience for me!

Spectacular. Perfect pitch at the very top and sustained! Grob-prandl, in European publications is acknowledged by critical consensus as being the greatest drammatic soprano of all time. She was absolutely famous in Italy for Turandot alone. Oddly, or perhaps not, she is never mentioned by Nilsson in interviews. She never appeared at the met, and speculation was that Rudolph Bing and Nilsson made sure that she never did.
