TAKE ACTION

• In Eugene, contact the Lane Regional Air Protection Agency (LRAPA) that granted Seneca the air pollution permit it needed to build the facility: Contact Eugene City Councilor Andrea Ortiz who's on the LRAPA Board at 688-5588, Andrea.F.Ortiz@ci.eugene.or.us Tell her that LRAPA needs a new Director who will work in the interest of public health, not large corporations.

In Eugene: Contact EWEB Board Members:
ron.farmer@eweb.org - bob.cassidy@eweb.org - joann.ernst@eweb.org
rich.cunningham@eweb.org - john.brown@eweb.org
Tell them that we need to pull out of the contract and transition to a sustainable energy consumption level. We need more energy efficiency upgrades and decentralized energy generation, not wasteful biomass energy that will pollute our air and water.

* In Oregon: Tell Dem. candidate for Governor, John Kitzhaber (an M.D.!) that burning forests for energy is not a solution, will make us sick, and will destroy our forests. Tell him to bring back the timber harvest tax (a carbon tax) he previously canceled (he and the legislature in 1999) for timberland owners of more than 5,000 acres that was funding schools. Share your ideas on his blog at:
http://ideasfororegon.uservoice.com/forums/36512-energy-and-transportation

* Nationwide: Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper and Urge your Congresspeople to oppose subsidizing forest biomass burning with taxpayer money (e.g. American Power Act and American Clean Energy and Security Act) in via a simple online letter at: http://www.nobiomassburning.org/congress.php
Cutting off the cash flow will prevent new facilities.
