The BRAT will essentially translate the input and output signals going to and from the ECU so you can actually tune in real time and without ECU resistance. Since the ECU sees parameters that are safe, it will not interfere with the tuning and not attempt to reverse" back to stock by either (i) adding or removing fuel, (ii) advancing or retarding timing, (iii) adjusting the IAAC valve, or (iv) referencing all four O2 sensors and proceding from that point.
