  • Im not sure if anyone else notices, but Diana has that "it" factor and stage presence that very few artist have! This is a clip from about 45 years ago, her diva antics are nothing new... its natural to her... she was born to do this!

  • Florence really isn't into this one. You can tell she must have had words with Ross/Wilson/and-or Gordy before this one...

  • This is pure corn but you have to hand it to Miss Ross.... She was one heck of an entertainer.

  • You can see in her back-up singers a resentment of being relegated to the secondary spotlight. I can't blame them, really.

  • the beatles and the supremes are, without doubt the two greatest boy and girl bands ever. no boubt about that...

  • Fabulous!!

  • We seem to take for granted Supremes performances such as this and forget the huge impact they made at the time. Let me remind you that it was unheard of back in the 60s for a "rock group" to come on stage and deliver such a dramatic, professional performance of a Broadway hit. Of course it was all carefully planned by Motown to broaden the girls appeals from "kids" to adults. At the same time they choreographed it to highlight the extraordinary talents of Diana Ross.

  • EACH Supreme made the Supremes what they were. Each Supreme's name and personality was known to America, whereas most girl groups only had one known name (the lead), with two or three girls providing merely backup. Each Supreme had their own personalities. Mary was known as "the sexy one," and Flo was known, quite ironically, as "the quiet one," and provided humor in their live shows. Had Diana been the sole personality of the group, they would be just another Motown group.

  • Over dramatic.. But so effective... Very much so a solo performer! This let you know who the star of the group was and who were back-up singers. Sad but true...
