He was a "business artist." He created a name for himself and perpetuated his career doing artwork that he knew was going to sell. He wasn't this character like Rothko that snubbed his nose at getting paid... Warhol set out to get paid. Not that there's anything in the world wrong with that!

If you know anything about Warhol's art or aesthetic besides the Campbell's soup cans, you'd know that he didn't "sell out." He began in advertising... THIS was his aesthetic. And he certainly didn't "need the money" at this point in his career.

come on you watched factory girl and all of the sudden andy is the mean guy and eddie the poor victim? when are people going to learn that this movie was FICTION?. Eddie was a fucked up individual before she met warhol and a stupid junkie who couldn't handle her drugs. Get the facts damn it!

That's when a little detective work is in order. Andy certainly did have fall outs with some of his superstars, but all in all he had long term friendships with most of them. It's not like he used them to later toss them in the garbage like "factory girl" wrongfully shows. They implied that Nico replaced Edie? Come on Nico was in an entirely different league! Edie wished she had the beauty, talent and personality that Nico had. Sorry Edie fans...
