I think he could do a brillian job as either. James Nesbitt was a name David Tennant and other were joking about on one of the extras to be the next dr. Could work. :) (I think it was season 4 extras)

You know a friend of mine used Eddie Izzard as a parallel universe version of the Doctor in his fan story. the only diference is that his morals are very limited and that the Time Lords are EVIL. He'd make a Doctor but not a good one(worse than C. Baker).
