sorry for my ignorance - how do I discharge myself?

I am new to learning the gutz of a computer, I thought the RAM was a lot more fragile than that. Static electricity frying it and all. I know a decent bit but I have only replaced or swaped out RAM on 4 computers and I always made sure I discharged static electricity. You seem to not be worried about just yanking it out of the computer. Tell me what you know if you dont mind.

It's always a good idea to discharge yourself before working on a machine. If you're working on a static free surface, it isn't as big of an issue however.
