The BNP members bulletin, the British Nationalist, contains details of a BNP strategy called Operation Fightback, which advises BNP members to respond to the leaking of the BNP members list by exercising rights defined under Section 24[1][b] (and other clauses) of the Data Protection Act (DPA) 1998.

Under the terms of the DPA, the BNP advise members to post letters by Recorded Delivery to Anti-Fascist groups and newspaper journalists etc, demanding access to any personal information that may have been collected by downloading the stolen BNP members list...

Under the terms of the DPA, a "Subject Access Request" (SAR) must be physically signed by the sender, and the official www.businesslink.gov.uk website confirms that recipients of an SAR have a right to "charge a fee of up to £10 to provide the information requested" and that recipients "don't need to supply the information until after (they) receive any fee". Recipients can also demand proof of "the identity of an individual requesting information" such as a copy of the BNP member's council tax bill...

So, if you are a BNP member who WANTS to provide Anti-Fascist groups with a £10 donation, a sample of your signature, a cheque disclosing your bank account details, possibly (if you lick the envelope) a sample of your DNA, and confirmation of both your current address and of the fact that you are still a loyal BNP sympathiser, then you'd best follow the BNP's typically intelligent, sensible and well thought-out advice!
