Wow... I think that's all that needs to be said.. wow... is this what happens when hula goes outside of Hawai'i? A kaholo becomes a "vent" or a "vamp" and people start counting in Samoan instead of Hawaiian?

Interesting. I was taught that "vamp" is a musical term even though it is sometimes used as a dance term.
