I cant hear him speak without turning into doctor cox.

@ringmaster316ms If you want to get into the etymology of the thing... it's never been a pretty word. But really, does the 'why' really matter as much as the 'that'? What context would you use the word in that's not offensive on some level? And even if mentioned casually, if it's within earshot of someone who's mentally challenged who's grown up around the word and knows the sentiment behind it, it'll hurt and hurt bad.

we all knew Cox had a heart of gold!

I actually have 3 brothers all with different mental disabilities. I find it incredably insulting when people say "Retard". I think its cruel to attack a group who for the most part can't defend themselves against insults. 2 of my brothers have been in the regional special olympics. My little brother won gold in every category he participated in.
They are just as capable as anyone. Alot of them just don't have the mentality or comprehension to even understand whats happening.

@ringmaster316ms for onething it hurts to be called that
It's heart-warming that John C McGinley is putting so much effort to make this world a nicer place for intellectualy challenged people. His son Max is lucky to have a Father who will take on the world to stop discrimination.
