  • having never heard any of the GD music this is something of a revelation!

  • Yes, Sir Arthur did a good job on most of the music for GD - But to call the libretto "sub-par" is ill-advised. One of the problems with GD was that it was a conflict in styles. By this time Gilbert was writing musical comedies and Sullivan still wanted to write operettas. I've always liked GD - from both the creators

  • Nice voice, Ludwig!

  • "Soon to be for e'er united till diVORCE, divorce or death do part them!"

  • So untrue. You can't have listened to many 18th or 19th century operas -- it was part of the job to rescue the subpar libretto.

  • Great job! Only Arthur Sullivan could take a sub par libretto and make something of it musically!

  • Really cool to see what it looked like. Iolanthe will be just as good I'm sure.

  • That's hot. So hot. I miss it.
