Assault Suits Valken (PS2)

Any Snes fans out there will instantly recognise this game: It is Cybernator! Well Assault Suits Valken on Playstation 2 is an entirely uncensored remake of that Super Nintendo classic but truthfully there is nothing special about this edition in anyway.

The biggest gripe is that it is far too unforgiving. Thanks to some rather crappy and sluggish controls it is hard to manouver about without getting shot too much. Furthermore there is no form of automatic firing and essentially you have to keep stabbing your thumb at the fire button to the point of repetitive strain injury.

But positively, I imagine most people will probably find their distaste with the remake through Valken's irritable soundtrack. It remasters the old music but the PS2 synths don't match the goodness of what we heard on Nintendo's 16 bit machine. It visually doesn't appear very different either.

The remake somehow found it's way here in the UK under a budget label. Even though it is very easy to pick this up cheap and in brand new condition, I wouldn't recommend it at all. Avoid.

@chupapicosconchetuma In Europe, yes. It was released as a budget title, meaning it was shelf fodder in supermarkets at best.

The only visual differences that I can make out is some of the weapons (like the laser), the explosions, and the bg in the intro. As for the music...yeah. The SNES version was WAY superior.
