Stretching Natural Hair

This is called the banding method. It's worked really well for me so far. Hope there is some info here that you can benefit from!

i think you just have curly hair. not natural hair. your hair really doesnt look coarse at all

@MsJanny12 Hi! I'm not sure what you mean by "not natural". As lashawna07 pointed out that other than semi-permanent color my hair is chemical-free. My hair is very thick, coarse, and the pattern is kinky-curly. Maybe I'll do a full tutorial on stretching to showcase how I got these results. :) And if you're interested you can try it! @RBLEGGS Silicone will completly protect and shield your hair for any heat style. it acts like a barrier for heat and your hair shaft. HOWEVER youhave to strip the silicone back off your hair with sulfate shampoo in order for moisture to get bck into your hair....I straighten all the time this way and NO heat damage

@MsVintage007 Right, silicones are in most heat protectants. Learn about the effects of heat on natural hair at thenaturalhaven(dot)blogspot(d­ot)com. Any heat applied to the hair above 320 degrees F can change the hair's natural pattern, BUT with heat protectants the change can be minimal. What heat protectant do you use? I'm on the search for a new one. :)

@MsJanny12 Ummm.....Natural hair doesn't have to be coarse : \. Natural hair just has to be virgin or lacks chemical processing. Natural hair is about styling what God gave you with WHAT God gave you and nothing else. "Nappy/coarse/rough" hair isn't always natural either lol.....I've seen some EXTREMELY nappy permed hair >_> lol. Maintenance and TLC is key =]. Category 4 hair can look like 3b/c hair...even 3a hair if you give it the TLC it needs =]. Stop that thinking -.- lol

@nelabug7 Silicone is mainly an ingredient used in most heat protectant I usually use a brand called " Silicone Mix" found in most Dominican Salons or on line at Amazon.com Also Paul M. 'Heat seal thermal' is a great one as well but it's a bit more costly than the Dominican version or if you dont have any other means of getting a HP then you could just seal with a good oil which acts like a protectant as well but dont use too much.

Hi love your videos I have a ? Do u have type 3c hair your curl pattern looks a lot like mine I'm kinda new to the whole natural hair world am currently transitioning about 16 weeks post relaxer justs looking for transitioning styles your videos are very helpful by the way and your hair is gorgeous!!!!!!

@MsJanny12 natural hair does not always mean "kinky" we all have different wave patterns in our hair. If she does not put chemicals in her hair then its HER NATURAL hair. We are all different.

Silicons do not work for everyone. Even with silicones on my hair, when I was heat styling, I had major damage over time.

Our hair type is very similar. The banding works well, you can just do your twists and tie them down. They should stretch too :-)
