Jason Calacanis, CEO of Mahalo, co-founder of Weblogs Inc & host of the popular podcast "This Week In StartUps" (aka TWIST) takes on Apple and Apple fanboys and girls regarding the iPhone app and iTunes closed platform. He also talks about how the Internet and technology is successful because it is open. I have to agree with Jasons comments & support his opinion. This Week In StartUps is one of my favorite podcasts and if your thinking about your own internet startup I'd suggest checking out his show. http://www.thisweekinstartups.com

  • Apple Fanboys are so irritating. I agree that the closed nature of their OSes is disturbing.

  • @TheCr136736 Where did u get that? it's based on the linux kernel...

  • The guy speaking is a retard. Android uses an iOS engine to run its web browser. Then like an idiot he says that Apple is not open platform. When Apple has a bigger and better App Store, than the Android Market.

  • @ryanbinrichard , If your statement is true how come the apple.com web servers are running Oracle solaris (unix based OS)??...

  • @ryanbinrichard , no it is not...

  • I love how apple people talk about there OS being the most advanced....bullshit, there is nothing major about your OS over windows and linux

  • @ryanbinrichard

the problem is the average person doesn't know how to jailbreak. and why should you have to go through all that any? i want a device where i don't have to jump through hoops just to personalize it the way i want.

  • @ryanbinrichard "Most advanced" LMAO. So they run Mac on top of BSD/Darwin and call it advanced? Since Mac can't run their own servers with OS X, they are advanced?

FYI - Even Apple.com runs under Win2000 and Linux servers.

  • Mac OS X is actually the most advanced OS in the entire world so who cares if it's "open" or not according to you guys. yes, i will agree that iOS is a very closed platform (or was) but there are ways of dealing with that. Jailbreaking, i Jailbreak pretty much all my iOS devices and that gets rid of the "closed" nature of the OS. and Apple create the best stuff anyway. it's for security aswell, it's not all just about money.

  • FLAG THIS VIDEO BOYS !!!

  • Nobody will invest in a closed platform huh. Tell that to the dev's that are making millions a year moron
