this was kind of cool

It wasn't written or played by Henry VIII, that's a common misconception. It was based off of an italian style that didn't come to England until after Henry VIII died. Although, to cloud, it is not about prostitutes-it is a love song. And yes, they did take the melody and change the Lyrics to make it a Christmas song.

@LordBraembes It is too a Christmas song. The music was used for What Child Is This. Just like Elvis used another songs tune for Love Me Tender and Vanilla Ice used Under Pressure for Ice Ice Baby. And as is often the case, the second song has gained more meaning and popularity to many than the first.

@LordBraembes A love song? Greensleeves is about prostitutes, and the name greensleeves represents a lady who would roll around the grass, you know. I'm not saying he didn't, but I would not play it to someone who knew what it meant o.o

it's not a christmas song, it's a love song ... played by Henry VIII for Anne Boleyn.
